Marin City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Marin County, California, United States. It is located about 5 miles northwest of downtown Sausalito, 8 miles south-southeast of San Rafael, and about 5 miles north of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge. Marin City was developed for housing starting in 1942, to accommodate wartime shipyard workers and other migrants to California.
Among those were African Americans from the South in the Great Migration. After the war, the area became predominantly African-American, as white residents were able to move freely to private housing elsewhere in Marin County. Additional development has changed the makeup of the population while providing more local jobs. Marin City is a diverse community with a unique history and culture. It is an excellent place to visit, work, and raise a family.

This park is named for George Rocky Graham, who was born in San Francisco in 1874. Graham was a professional boxer who fought in the middleweight division. He had a record of 24 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw. His most famous fight was against world middleweight champion Stanley Ketchel in 1908. Ketchel knocked out Graham in the 12th round.
Graham retired from boxing in 1909 and moved to Sausalito, where he opened a boxing gym. He coached many up-and-coming boxers, including Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney. Graham died in Sausalito in1933.
